If you’re lucky enough to book a ticket to Lisbon, the next step is to work out the best way to get from Lisbon Airport (LIS) into Lisbon city centre.

You have three options to travel from the airport to the city centre: the metro, the Aerobus and a taxi/rideshare. Like many airports, these options have advantages and disadvantages. As a result, you have to weigh up which factor is most important to you. For example, a journey from Lisbon Airport to the city centre by taxi is fastest but also the most expensive. Meanwhile. the subway is the cheapest option but requires a change. Finally, the Aerobus is direct but costs twice the cost to the subway and leaves less frequently.

Ther cost of travel for an individual from Lisbon Airport to Lisbon city centre ranges from € 1.50 to € 15. As for the Airbus, you can buy the ticket at the Aerobus site. The single ticket costs € 3.60 for adults, ages four to ten cost € 2.00, and under four is free. Taxis prices start from € 10 to € 15 and pick up at the exit of the airport. Uber prices are slightly less than a taxi. Uber is how I travelled when I visited Lisbon alone with my oldest son for his fourth birthday. Sadly his fifth birthday will be spend at home due to travel restrictions under COVID-19.
